“But what will I actually do?”
This is a question young people ask all the time before starting Game Changers.
Check out our case studies below to get a flavour of the kinds of projects and activities our mentees can explore.
Many mentees thrive in sessions that are child-led, so really, the possibilities are endless!
Ollie’s Frozen Adventure World
The Big Picture
Ollie loved playing in Roblox, but really wanted to make his own game in Roblox Studio. Coming up with ideas can be the hardest step, and Ollie and his mentor Jack messed around with loads of different tools in Roblox Studio until it became clear what their map was going to be.
Ollie made frozen castles, icy caves, and funny little details tucked into the environment. He experimented with sound, lighting, and atmosphere so the game felt like you’d stepped into a movie scene.
-
Ollie kicked things off by getting comfortable with Roblox Studio tools — moving, scaling, and shaping the map into something snowy and atmospheric.
He experimented with materials to give everything a frosted look, then built a castle that looked properly frozen and imposing.
To make the map feel bigger than just the playable area, he even created “out of bounds” areas that players could spot in the distance, helping the world feel huge.
-
Once the foundations were set, Ollie shifted focus to atmosphere and detail. He tested different skyboxes, added fog and lighting effects, and layered in Roblox’s atmosphere settings to make the snowy world really come alive.
To give the game sound as well as visuals, he added proximity audio, so sounds can change as you move through the map.
He also played with custom images to add some fun personality touches along the way.
-
Ollie thought carefully about how players would actually move through his world. He expanded the frozen castle into a full exploration area, dug out a cave system, and designed a platforming section for the obby to keep things exciting.
As a final touch, a timer will appear and teleport them into a whole new game.

D’s Quiz Challenge
The Mission
D absolutely loves chatting about his interests with his mentor Omer, from football to TV shows, to his pets. Inspired, they decided to build a fun quiz all about D, complete with clickable buttons and scoring. D learnt how to code his own quiz, and designed the art work for the background.
-
D carefully structured each question, programmed the answer options, and made sure the game responded properly when players got something right (or wrong!).
He used python to write the code, a really useful coding language to know and understand.
-
The finished quiz was simple but brilliant — funny, personal, and a real reflection of D’s interests.
It was also a huge achievement, because it showed he could take an idea and turn it into a fully working coded game, all on his own.

Z’s Roblox Obby
A Huge Achievement
Z came in with one mission: make the hardest obby ever. And wow, did he deliver. From crazy bouncing platforms to invisible lasers and zombies chasing you around, the world just kept getting bigger. He even wrote 70 lines of code to build his own checkpoint system, and then published the game for friends to try.
-
Z programmed moving platforms, built bouncing pads, and created puzzles that really pushed players to the limit.
One of his biggest wins was tackling a checkpoint system. It was complicated and didn’t work the first time, but Z persevered and wrote a whopping 70 lines of code to get it running. When it finally clicked, it was a massive achievement, and his game was officially published on Roblox.
-
Once the obby was up and running, Z wanted to turn up the challenge. He added invisible lasers that players had to dodge, then went all-in by programming his own zombie spawner.
He updated the zombie AI so they behaved in the way she wanted, and even built barriers to keep them contained until the perfect moment.
-
Beyond coding, Z wanted the game to feel like his own creation. He built a lobby where players could gather, experimented with teleporting doors that zipped you around the map, and designed his own custom health and coin collector UIs using his own illustrations.
